Abstract
A dependence of the interlayer exchange coupling coefficient A(12) on the Co layer thickness has been observed in asymmetric Co(32 Angstrom) /RU(t(Ru))/Co(t(2)) trilayer structures for several series within whic h t(Ru) is a constant. As a function of the second Co layer thickness, the amplitude of A(12) varies significantly but the sign of A(12) doe s not change within each series. In both parallel and antiparallel cou pled structures, the variation length Delta t(2) between the maximum a nd the minimum coupling strength is rather large (about 10 Angstrom) a nd consistent from series to series.
