Abstract
Due to special circumstances, this decade has been a significant era f or the political development in Hong Kong. For instance, Hong Kong had its first direct election in the legislature in 1991 and the continue d change towards a more democratic society is expected in the coming y ears. The issue of elderly's political participation and their voting behavior have become keen discussion topics among the local social wor k practitioners. This paper describes the political attitudes and beha viors of the elderly in Hong Kong. Furthermore, the implications to th e gerontological social workers are discussed.
