Ma. Pelosi et al., THE ELECTRONIC VIDEO OPERATIVE LAPAROSCOPE, The Journal of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, 1(1), 1993, pp. 54-57
A new 14-mm electronic video operative laparoscope accommodates a 5-mm
operative channel. The video image sensor is located at the distal en
d of the laparoscope. The image quality is far superior to that of the
standard video camera systems that attach to rigid endoscopes. Additi
onal advantages are improved maneuverability, elimination of focusing,
superior illumination system, and the capability to interchange with
conventional video equipment. This instrument marks the next generatio
n of laparoscopes.
