Abstract
Emergency treatment in general hospital requires an active psychiatric presence. Since 1974 there is a psychiatric emergency unit at the Rhe ims University Hospital. Psychiatric emergencies are : attempted suici de, depression, alcoholism and psychosis. Such a unit reduces the rate of psychiatric hospitalization.
