N,O-Chelate complexes of R,S-2-(3-thienyl)glycinate (L) have been obta
ined: ML(2) (M = Ni, Cu), (n-Bu(3)P)(Cl)M(L) (M = Pd, Pt), (eta(3)-C3H
5)Pd(L), C(6)H(4)CH(2)NMe(2)Pd(L), (eta(6)-p-cymene)(Cl)Ru(L), (eta(5)
-C(5)Me(5))(Cl)M(L) (M = Rh, Ir) and (eta(5)-C5H5)(OC)(2)Mo(L). The me
thyl ester of R,S-2-(3-thienyl)glycine (L') forms the complexes tmns-C
l(2)PdL'(2), cis-Cl2Pt(L')(2), (n-Bu(3)P)(Cl-2)M(L') (M = Pd, Pt) and
(eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))(Cl)(2)M(L') (M = Rh, Ir) in which the ligand L' is
coordinated through the amino group. The structures of (eta(3)-C3H5)Pd
(L) and of (eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))(Cl-2)Ir(L') have been determined by X-ra
y diffraction. N-Benzoyl-2-(3-thienylglycine methyl ester reacts with
Cr(CO)(6) to yield a tricarbonyl complex with an eta(6)-coordinated ph
enyl group. N-Benzoyl-R,S-2-(3-thienyl)glycinate (L') and (eta(5)-C5H5
)(2)TiCl2 give the diastereoisomers 5)(2)Ti(R-L'')(R-L'')(2)/(eta(5)-C
5H5)(2)Ti(S-L'') (S-L'')] and (eta(5)-C5H5)(2)Ti(R-L'')(S-L'') with Ti
-O-bonds.
