Abstract
The slightly distorted octahedral coordination sphere of cobalt in ,2' '-[nitrilotris(ethylenenitrilomethylidyne-kappa N)]triphenolato-kappa( 3) O}cobalt(III) acetonitrile hemihydrate, [Co(C27H27N4O3)].CH3CN.0.5H 2O, is formed from three N and three O atoms which are in a fac arrang ement. The chelate rings formed by the salicylidene-imine moieties are almost planar [maximum deviation of the Co atom from a least-squares plane calculated for the atoms of a salicylidene-imine moiety is 0.101 (4) Angstrom]. Average bond lengths are 1.893 (3) Angstrom for Co-O a nd 1.947 (4) Angstrom for Co-N.
