We have investigated a thin film head for VCR application whose struct
ure has a long depth and a gap surface that is perpendicular to the su
bstrate. We made a test device that has a CoZr amorphous thin film cor
e. The conductor is a helicoid that is wound three-dimensionally aroun
d the core and is fabricated by thin film processes. The thin film hea
d obtained larger normalized output voltage by track width and inducta
nce than a MIG head between 1 to 10 MHz.
