Abstract
The overwrite characteristics in perpendicular magnetic recording is d iscussed based on the transition shift. The transition shift during th e write process caused by the interference in the vicinity of the reco rding position was measured and quantified. The dependence of the over write on the recording condition is explained, It is also confirmed th at the bi-layered head can improve the overwrite by suppressing the tr ansition shift.
