Abstract
The exchange stiffness constant and the effective gyromagnetic factor of amorphous Gd13.5Tb6.2Fe80.3, Gd21.2Co78.8, Gd19.4Nd6.1Fe74.5 and Gd 19.6Nd10.3Fe70.1 alloy films have been determined by Brillouin light s cattering and from measurements of the domain wall energy. All samples , which show a constant Curie temperature of 465K, exhibit the same ex change stiffness constant, as;measured by Brillouin light scattering. The obtained values of both methods agree for the Gd13.5Tb6.2Fe80.3 an d Gd21.2Co78.8 films, but not for the Nd containing films. The latter is attributed to a break down of the standard Bloch domain wall equati on in Nd containing systems.
