Frequency tunable millimeter wave (MMW) filters are considered to be f
abricated using metallic ferromagnetic thin films. Whereas conventiona
l filters which include insulating ferrite materials utilize the pheno
menon of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR), our design incorporates the ph
enomenon of ferromagnetic anti-resonance (FMAR). Our calculations indi
cate that in comparing the characteristics of the two types of filters
the filter utilizing magnetic metal films are superior in terms of in
sertion loss and integrability with other planar MMW devices.
