A disorder of conduction system causes cardiac arrhythmia. At present,
electromagnetic waves such as radiofrequency waves are generally used
for the ablation. However, the radiofrequency ablation often accompan
ies fatal side effects. We developed the new method of catheter ablati
on using temperature-sensitive ferrite rod land a nonmagnetic metal ri
ng as a heating device. The device generates heat in an impressed magn
etic field that does not generate heat in body itself. The maximum tem
perature is determined by the Curie temperature of the ferrite rod, Th
e clinical application of the method was discussed experimentally. The
results suggest that the usefulness of this method for conduction sys
tem ablation in the treatment of ventricular arrhythmia.
