Abstract
A new structure for a magnetic passive damper is described that provid es high efficiency damping thanks to variations of reluctance. Its ope rating conditions are determined by analysing its freqeuncy range and its axial behaviour. By using a 2D finite element program, its damping coefficient is calculated. Compared to a traditional damper, the syst em proposed is much more efficient.
