The Schlomann and Walker analyses of the steady state domain wall moti
on have been compared. It is shown that the Schlomann limiting velocit
y corresponds to the maximum value of the drive field dependence of th
e domain wall velocity in the Walker's problem. The generalized Sloncz
ewski's equations have been used to study the influence of a field nor
mal to the anisotropy axis on the steady state domain wall motion. The
dependence of the Schlomann limiting velocity on this field has been
obtained and compared with the previously existed dependence. It is sh
own that the Schlomann limiting velocity is always higher than the Wal
ker critical one and their difference increases with increasing field
normal to the anisotropy axis.
