Abstract
Since 1987, blood was regularly collected from young bulls gathered in a selection station of Belgian Blue Breed, in order to identify cattl e persistently infected with Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus (BVDV). Perc entages of persistently infected animals were similar to those usually observed in bovine populations and remained identical through the dif ferent years. Some samples were analyzed by virus isolation in cell cu lture, the reference test, and by ELISA; results obtained by both assa ys were perfectly similar.
