COMPARATIVE-EXAMINATION OF DEEP BURIED DRUSEN OF THE OPTIC DISK WITH SCANNING LASER OPHTHALMOSCOPE AND FUNDUS CAMERA

We examined four patients with the suspected diagnosis of optic disc d rusen by scanning laser opthalmascopy (SLO) and fundus photography. In all four cases the autofluorescence that distinguishes optic disc dru sen was observed with the SLO, but not with the fundus camera. Three o f the four examined patients, children or adolescents, were spared fur ther diagnostic procedures to clarify the underlying cause of the swol len optic disc.
