A kinetic study has been made of the oxidation of tarry, resinous subs
tances (RS) and the oxidation of copper in the regeneration of deactiv
ated Cu-Zn-Cr-Al catalyst for cyclohexanol dehydrogenation. In the cou
rse of regeneration, the rate of RS oxidation increases, owing to oxid
ation of the catalyst surface, leading to an increase in the number of
active centers and an increase in the preexponential factor. It has b
een established that CO2 and CO are formed through a parallel scheme,
with the CO probably being formed through a reaction of decarbonylatio
n of oxygen-containing components of the RS.
