A semiempirical quantum chemical calculation was used to analyze the p
ossible causes of the significant differences in the experimentally ob
served catalytic and cocatalytic activity of carbamide in reactions of
isocyanates. A substantial influence of complex formation of carbamid
e with the basic reagent and the catalyst on the value of the cocataly
tic activity of carbamide in the cyclotrimerization of isocyanates was
demonstrated.
