Abstract
The kinetics of U sorption on Thermoxide-5 during sorption-desorption cycles from 20 to 65-degrees-C with various initial [U] in marine-type carbonate solutions at pH = 7.85 are studied. The free energy of acti vation for sorption increases with each cycle and becomes constant in 3-5 cycles, corresponding to the free energy of activation of irrevers ible chemosorption of U. The generalized rate constants for the chemos orption and ion-exchange steps of U sorption by Thermoxide-5 are calcu lated.
