H. Yoshimatsu et al., SLAKING RESISTANCE OF CAO CERAMICS SINTER ED FROM AL2O3-COATED CACO3 POWDER, Nippon Seramikkusu Kyokai gakujutsu ronbunshi, 105(2), 1997, pp. 185-187
CaCO3 powder with high purity was coated with a chelate compound of al
uminum corresponded to 0.5 mass% Al2O3. The CIPed compact of the coate
d powder was sintered at 1500 degrees C for 2h in air to prepare CaO c
eramics (''COAT'' specimen). The distribution of Al in the CaO matrix
for the COAT was different from that for the CaO ceramics (''MIX'' spe
cimen) prepared from the mixture of CaCO3 and Al2O3 powder. The sinter
ability and slaking resistance of the CaO ceramics were greatly improv
ed by addition of 0.5 mass% Al2O3. The relative density and slaking re
sistance of the COAT specimen were higher than those of the MIX specim
en.
