In recent years, instrumentation capable of making multiangle light sc
attering (MALS) measurements have become an essential part of the chro
matographer's armamentarium. Such instruments permit the determination
of molar mass and size without assumptions or requirements for calibr
ated standards. As the number of scattering angles increase, there is
a corresponding increase in the precision of the results calculated. T
he versatility of the MALS detection method permits application to a b
road range of samples and separation techniques.
