Cotton grafted with acrylamide (cellulose-g-polyacrylamide) was prepar
ed by using ceric ion as initiator. The dielectric properties of graft
ed cotton were studied. Also, the effect of the grafting percentage on
these properties was discussed. The results indicate that the dielect
ric constant, epsilon', decreases as the percentage of grafting increa
ses, which may be due to the reduction in the number of the polarized
groups (OH groups) of cellulose, due to grafting.
