Abstract
Cholesterol and cholesteryl acetate are efficiently epoxidized by air and isobutyraldehyde; the beta-stereoselectivity of cholesteryl acetat e epoxidation is enhanced to more than 80% in the presence of (5,10,15 ,20-tetraphenylporphyrinato)nickel(II).
