The formation of binary and ternary complexes of some amino-acids (asp
artic acid, glutamic acid and lysine) and succinate with Cu(II) have b
een investigated using differential pulse (d.p.) polarography. The res
ults reveal the formation of one ternary complex with 1:1:1 stoichiome
try. The reduction processes of all the systems were reversible and di
ffusion controlled. The formation constants of binary and ternary syst
ems have been calculated. The mixed ligand stability constants were ca
lculated statistically and compared with the observed values. The mixi
ng, stabilization and disproportionation constants of the mixed specie
s are also given.
