Kg. Sund et al., WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH, LLC OUTREACH TO THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY, GOVERNMENT, INDUSTRY, AND OTHERS, Human and ecological risk assessment, 3(1), 1997, pp. 97-117
The research program to evaluate potential public health risk from wir
eless communication instruments is an open, scientific one. Its agenda
was developed with the input of more than 150 scientists. The Wireles
s Technology Research, L.L.C. (WTR) continues to solicit scientific in
put into the process and strives to make its work accessible for revie
w. Al studies done under the program will be presented at conferences,
as well as peer reviewed and submitted to the scientific literature f
or publication. To the greatest extent feasible, ongoing research and
scientific deliberations are also disseminated. Other avenues of scien
tific outreach are loosely broken up into three target audiences: gove
rnment, industry, and other parties. In the United States government,
the WTR has and will continue to brief interested parties. The WTR als
o interacts with foreign governments, participating by invitation in o
ne international coordinating body and being the impetus behind a seco
nd. The WTR, in an advisory role, is also responsible for informing in
dustry of the latest developments in the research. This is accomplishe
d through regular briefings and written communication. Other parties a
re kept informed via the WTR newsletter, though other documents sent t
o those on the WTR mailing List, and by using the media as a conduit.
