Amorphous Fe1-xBx alloy particles have been prepared in aqueous soluti
ons by reduction of Fe2+ ions to the metallic state by the use of NaBH
4. It is demonstrated, that by changing the pH of the aqueous metal io
n solution the amount of boron incorporated in the alloy particles can
be varied between 15 and 28 at.%. Fe-57 Mossbauer spectra have been o
btained at 10, 80 and 295 K. The hyperfine parameters for amorphous pa
rticles have been found to be similar to those found for ribbons and f
ilms prepared by the liquid-quench and sputtering techniques, respecti
vely, though with a tendency for the magnetic hyperfine fields for the
chemically prepared and sputter prepared alloys to deviate slightly f
rom those for melt-spun samples. The magnetic hyperfine fields decreas
e linearly as a function of T3/2.
