Abstract
A new experimental procedure is presented for evaluating the elastic m odulus of refractories at high temperatures. The method is based on fl exural resonance after excitation by an impacting ball. A great experi mental simplification is introduced by using standard three point bend ing supports instead of a wire suspended sample, and an acoustic micro phone as a non-contacting transducer. It is shown that the distance be tween support points has a negligible effect on the experimental resul ts.
