A method to deduce the 2 x 2 transport matrix for coupled heat and par
ticle transport in Tokamaks is proposed. The method applies to perturb
ative experiments, and is based on a Fourier transform of the measured
signals of temperature and density. By analyzing different linear com
binations of temperature and density, the eigenvectors and eigenvalues
of the transport matrix are determined. The method is tested for a nu
mber of illustrative cases using simulated data, and the sensitivity t
o noise on the signals is evaluated.
