Abstract
The limited growth of the number of sources <C> found some time ago fr om the analysis of multiparticle distributions is explained in terms o f the interacting gluon model. It turns out to be closely related to a nother characteristic property of strong interactions, namely the decr ease with energy of the inelasticity <K> and is due to the specific en ergy dependence of the gluon-gluon cross section and the form of the g luonic structure functions.
