Sv. Popovich, STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MESOZOIC-CENOZOIC DEPOSITS OF THE NORTHWESTERN SHELF OF THE BLACK-SEA, Geotectonics, 23(06), 1989, pp. 530-537
Based mainly on the results of marine seismic studies by the common de
pth-point method, the structural characteristics of the sedimentary co
ver of the northwestern shelf of the Black Sea basin are given. The ge
neral principles of development of anticlinal folds in the Mesozoic-Ce
nozoic deposits were determined. A relationship is established between
folded dislocations and disruptive dislocations (overthrusts). A conc
lusion is drawn concerning the predominant effect of tangential stress
es on development of the structure of the northwestern shelf of the Bl
ack Sea.
