We present a model for electron acceleration in high-temperature turbu
lent current sheets (HTCS). In this model, the various processes that
generate fast particles in solar flares have a common origin, namely,
dissipation of magnetic energy in a region of magnetic reconnection. T
he spectral indices gamma which we find (in the range 2-5), as well as
the number of electrons accelerated during the main phase of a flare,
are in agreement with observational data.
