C. Klason et al., ELECTRICAL NOISE GENERATED DURING THE CAPILLARY-FLOW OF POLY(ETHYLENEOXIDE) SOLUTIONS - THE INFLUENCE OF THE SOLVENT POWER, Polymer, 33(7), 1992, pp. 1464-1468
The electrical noise generated during capillary flow of poly(ethylene
oxide) solutions has been studied in detail in mixtures of water and i
sopropyl alcohol of various solvent powers. The noise level, which inc
reased with flow rate, was found to be an increasing function of the l
inear dimension of the polymer coils as obtained from intrinsic viscos
ity data, if the system consists of entangled macromolecules, i.e. if
the polymer concentration is higher than the coil overlap concentratio
n.
