B. Kladny et al., EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF ACUTE NECROSIS OF THE FEMORAL CONDYLI (AHLBACKS DISEASE) IN MR TOMOGRAPHY, Aktuelle Rheumatologie, 16(6), 1991, pp. 202-205
It is often difficult to diagnose acute necrosis of the femoral condyl
i (Ahlback's disease) in the early stages, since it does not become ra
diologically manifest until some time later. Accumulation of activity
in scintigraphy can be detected early, but it is difficult to differen
tiate this from other lesions of the knee joint. MR enables early diag
nosis of the acute necrosis of the femoral condyli. Arthrotic lesions
of the knee joint, diseased states of the mensicus and the soft parts,
all of which must be differentiated from Ahlback's disease, can be ve
rified or excluded with a high degree of safety by MR.
