W. Wahl et al., STAPLING OF GASTRIC TUBE AND ESOPHAGOGASTROSTOMY AFTER ESOPHAGEAL RESECTION, Langenbecks Archiv fur Chirurgie, 377(2), 1992, pp. 107-111
55 out of 62 patients being operated of esophageal carcinoma underwent
gastric tube by stapling technique at the Department of General and A
bdominal Surgery, Hospitals and Clinics, Johannes Gutenberg University
Mainz. In 32 cases the intrathoracic anastomosis had been performed b
y using the circular stapling instrument. One patient (3.2%) out of tw
o (6.3%) showing suture dehiscencies died consequently to this complic
ation. A stenosis of the intrathoracic anastomosis developed in 11 pat
ients. The stapling technique convinced as a surgically simple and saf
e method of restructuring the nutrition passage after esophageal resec
tion.
