ARTICLES decorated with zari are often prized and keenly sought after
by ladies inspite of having to pay high prices for them. This, however
, creates a dilemma regarding their worth and appearance as reflected
in their price and quality, because of the varying practices followed
in their manufacture. In, a previous article, spot tests were describe
d for qualitative analysis. This paper reports a study that has been m
ade of the suitability or appropriateness of the various tests availab
le in literature together with their accuracy and the possibility of t
heir use for quantitative analysis as acceptable analytical methods wi
th the facilities normally available in conventional testing laborator
ies accessible to zari manufacturers. If the amount of the metal prese
nt is known, then this information provides a stamp of authenticity an
d assurance of quality.
