R. Kohring, BIOLOGICAL METAL ACCUMULATION IN THE RED BEDS (GUETTIOUA MEMBER) OF THE BATHONIAN (DOGGER) OF MSEMRIR, CENTRAL HIGH ATLAS, MOROCCO, Geologische Rundschau, 81(1), 1992, pp. 85-90
A fluviatile sequence is described from the Dogger (Bathonian) of Msem
rir (Central High Atlas, Morocco). The base comprises laminites with f
ine clouds of galena and some zinc minerals, while the rest of the pro
file consists of point bars with conglomerates. Due to their limitatio
n on lower energy levels, the sulphide minerals are interpreted as bio
logical metal accumulations of bacterial metabolic processes.
