Abstract
Measurements are reported of pattern formation at a liquid interface p roduced by a photochemical reaction involving the system KI/chloral hy drate/starch. The dependence of the wavelength on the concentrations o f the reactants, the viscosity, and the height of the sample has been examined. It is concluded that the pattern is produced by a hydrodynam ic mechanism.
