Cv. Singh et al., AGRO-ECONOMIC ASSESSMENT OF PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY OF UPLAND RICE (ORYZA-SATIVA), Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 62(3), 1992, pp. 187-190
An economic assessment was made during wet seasons of 1988 and 1989 on
improved agro-techniques of upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivation
, tested on farm and at station. Recommended fertilizer dose of 40, 8.
67 and 16.67 kg/ha of N, P and K respectively produced higher grain yi
eld (1.8 tonnes/ha) and resulted in greater marginal rate of return th
an 20, 8.67 and 16.67 kg/ha of N, P and K, and the farmers' practice o
f applying 20 kg N/ha at the time of seeding (1.10 tonnes/ha). At pre-
emergence, supplementary application of butachlor @ 1.5 kg ai/ha to si
ngle hand-weeding gave 497% marginal rate of return compared with sing
le hand-weeding 30 days after seeding. Farmers' practice of broadcast
seeding was inferior to improved practice of seeding in furrows 20 cm
apart.
