Abstract
The thermal diffusivity of gases can be determined with a method based upon the photoacoustic effect. The theoretical fundamentals of the ph otoacoustic technique for thermal diffusivity measurements are present ed and a photoacoustic cell designed for accurate measurements over th e temperature range from 290 up to 423 K at atmospheric pressure is de scribed. The average absolute deviation of the experimental data from recommended data, for gaseous argon, does not exceed 1%.
