The k-epsilon model of turbulence is used for calculating dynamical an
d thermal fields in plane turbulent vertical jets in a uniform stagnan
t environment. A new effective approach to the solution of the governi
ng system of partial differential equations (continuity, conservation
of momentum, heat, turbulent kinetic energy and its dissipation rate)
is suggested which is based on the introduction of mathematical variab
les. Comparison is made between the results of the present calculation
s and the experimental data of other authors, and satisfactory agreeme
nt is found.
