Lw. Molenkamp et al., ELECTRON ELECTRON-SCATTERING PROBED BY A COLLIMATED ELECTRON-BEAM, Semiconductor science and technology, 7(3B), 1992, pp. 228-230
We compare the effects of current heating, hot-electron injection and
lattice temperature on the attenuation of a collimated ballistic elect
ron beam in a two-dimensional electron gas. In the electron gas heatin
g and injection experiments, we use a quantum point contact as a local
thermometer. We find that electron-electron scattering is the dominan
t factor determining the temperature dependence of the collimation sig
nal.
