Abstract
We report the results of a spectroscopic investigation of the radiativ e recombination processes occurring in a dense electron-hole plasma co nfined in quasi-one-dimensional semiconductor quantum wires. Intersubb and transitions involving quantum wire states with quantum number as h igh as n(y) = 5 are observed in the photoluminescence spectra recorded under stationary conditions of high excitation intensity. The tempora l evolution of the luminescence is characterized by a decay time of ab out 800 ps longer than the one measured in the two-dimensional referen ce heterostructure.
