Abstract
A hospital stay can be a disorienting and frightening experience for m any older patients, particularly the frail elderly. The result may be delirium in addition to an underlying medical illness. Dr O'Brien disc usses the causes and differential diagnosis of delirium and suggests p ractical strategies for management and prevention.
