The dependence of the yields of condensed carbon and ultradispersed di
amond (UDD), and the fraction of UDD in the carbon, on the composition
of cast mixtures of TNT with RDX, HMX, and PETN, are investigated exp
erimentally by detonations in a blast chamber. Mixtures having a TNT c
ontent from 90 to 35% are studied. It is shown that the yield of conde
nsed carbon decreases linearly as the amount of TNT in the mixture is
reduced, while the fraction of diamond phase in the carbon increases m
onotonically (for mixtures with PETN) or reaches a constant value (for
mixtures with RDX and HMX). The dependence of the yield of UDD on com
position of the explosive displays an extremum; the maximum yield is a
ttained for a TNT content of 60-70%.
