POTENTIAL USES OF LAMINATED VENEER LUMBER IN FURNITURE

The increasing scarcity of high quality hardwoods makes it increasingl y more difficult for manufacturers to produce quality solid wood furni ture at an affordable price. The development of laminated veneer lumbe r (LVL), which is a solid wood composite product, makes it possible fo r lower prices. This paper attempts to identify applications and const ructions where LVL can be used to best advantage, from both a structur al and an economical point of view.
