A series of lkyl-4-phenyl-1,4-diazaphospholidin-5-one-2-oxides (2) hav
e been synthesized by the Mannich-type reaction of 1-phenyl-3-(p-tolue
nesulfonyl)urea (1), aliphatic aldehydes and triphenyl phosphite in ac
etic acid, and their structures were determined by elementary analysis
, NMR acid MS. The mechanism of the acid-catalyzed reaction was discus
sed. The results of preliminary bioassay show that compounds (2) posse
