Cx. Zhao et al., FABRICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF A NOV EL AZOBENZENE SAM-LB COMPOSITE FILM, Gaodeng xuexiao huaxue xuebao, 18(2), 1997, pp. 300-302
A novel azobenzene SAM-LB composite film was fabricated by depositing
Langmuir-Blodgett monolayer of yl-4'-(3-carboxy-trimethylene-oxy)-azob
enzene(ABD) onto the cysteamine sell-assembled monolayer(AET SAM) modi
fied gold substrate, The film stability was greatly improved and the m
olecular aggregation was effectively prevented by the strong ionic bon
ding character on the SAM-LB interface, which was evidenced by both co
ntact-angle titration, RA-FTIR and AFM. The reversible tran/cis isomer
ization and the clear-cut electrochemical response of cis-azobenzene w
ere observed in the presence of highly organized molecular assemblies.
This enable us to carry Out a kinetic study of the cis-azobenzene in
highly organized monolayers, by which a ''more'' reversible and unique
pH dependent electron-transfer kinetic behavior of azobenzene was sho
wn within the novel SAR(I-LB composite films.
