In this article the construction of an apparatus for electrochemical i
nvestigations using an IBM personal microcomputer is presented. This a
pparatus can be used in a wide range of electrochemical methods, stati
onary and dynamic. A special construction solution allows for applicat
ion in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements, particular
ly using the fast Fourier transform method. The apparatus contains a p
otentiostat connected with signal generators for the polarization of t
he working electrode and two identical analogue-to-digital conversion
channels. For data transmission between this apparatus and the microco
mputer, two parallel transmission ports and a special communication in
terface are used. Also, the detailed description of the construction o
f the analogue-to-digital conversion channels, including a special mod
ule for direct voltage compensation in the input analogue signal, is g
iven, together with the final technical specification of the apparatus
.
