Methods that increase the stability of the superconducting characteris
tics of the ceramic based on YBa2Cu3O7-y were examined. It was establi
shed that the use of explosive compaction makes it possible to obtain
a ceramic with density close to theoretical and with increased resista
nce to hydration aging processes. A positive effect with respect to st
abilization of the superconducting characteristics can also be achieve
d by the addition of silver to the YBa2Cu3O7-y composition at the rate
of 5-30 wt. %. The technical and transport characteristics of YBa2Cu3
O7-y are improved at the same time.
