Mv. Vladimirova, MATHEMATICAL-MODELING OF RADIATION-CHEMICAL PROCESSES IN HNO3 SOLUTIONS OF PU .4. RADIATION-CHEMICAL BEHAVIOR OF PU IN 1M HNO3, Soviet radiochemistry, 34(6), 1992, pp. 721-730
Radiation-chemical processes involving Pu in 1 M HNO3 are mathematical
ly modeled. This solution differs from more acidic ones in that the ac
cumulation of HNO2 in it is considerably different in the presence and
absence of Pu. The yields of alpha-radiolysis products were refined a
nd rate constants were found for the reactions Pu(IV) + OH, Pu(IV) + N
O3, Pu(V) + Pu(III), and Pu(IV) + Pu(IV) by comparing the calculated a
nd experimental instantaneous and equilibrium [Pu(VI)] and [Pu(IV)]. F
eatures of the radiation-chemical processes in 1 M HNO3 are examined.
Overall kinetic laws for reduction of Pu(VI) and oxidation of Pu(IV) a
nd Pu(III) are obtained.
