Roseolide A (1), a novel dimeric sesquiterpenoid containing drimane sk
eletons, has been isolated from the wood-rotting fungus Roseoformes su
bflexibilis (Berk. et Curt.) Aoshi. The chemical structure was elucida
ted on the basis of 2D NMR spectroscopy, chemical transformation to a
known compound, and X-ray crystallographic analysis.
